An enthusiatic description of the military parade for Queen Victoria's birthday in Ireland. He has been driven to Wicklow and Bray and admires the scenery. They are feted. There is to be a large supper the next Thursday and he, Montague and English were on Saturday guests of the Neptune Rowing Club. Irving is said to look very like the national hero Robert Emmett. He writes of the beauty of his son. He is sorry Florence is fatigued with the house and advises her to write to Toole if necessary. He is returning to Liverpool on Saturday. If Florence sends £5 he will buy her a dress... |

Content Summary: |
He has just received his father's letter. He will be grateful for the £30 which will be very useful. His father has 5% for it, so Irving will give 10% with any later readjustment. He has nothing to do with Miss Bateman and hears that for the first year at least she will not be at the Lyceum. Were he to act with her in future it could not be in August because his engagement with Bateman does not begin until September. |

Content Summary: |
He regrets he has received no photographs of the baby. He sends long instructions about re-furnishing the house through Maples and for obtaining credit to do so. He is glad she likes the house so much - it is theirs for 3 years and is remarkably cheap, with Venetian blinds a great addition. His lodgings are dreary and uncomfortable but are booked for three weeks. The food is only dreadful lamb chops (with a verse). They opened with great success and had a brilliant final Saturday in Dublin. He is sorry she is confined to bed with a cold. He jokes about the terms of the agreement for 14 Wharfdale [Wharfedale] St which has just arrived for him to sign. |

Content Summary: |
The two photographs he has kept must be considered a success. He likes the one where he [H.B. Irving] is lying on hs back best - the other is of Harry sitting bolt upright - though a bit out of focus. He comments on the ones he is returning which she should hide. The more he looks the more he feels he is a noble looking boy. |
