He explains the reason for keeping Irving as his name. Captain Atkinson [Wilkinson?] is godfather and He will be another. Montague has recovered and does not fear a relapse. He returns notices to his father, and thinks 'Two Roses' the best. P.o.v. [Post Office voucher] for 30/- enclosed.

Content Summary: ... Any other course would be cruel and unfeeling. Even if all parties do not agree it would be better to pay them all their share and leave the house intact. As there is no will he thinks the property should be divided into 7 equal parts between the children and the surviving sisters and brothers. Mrs James Brodribb with no children is entitled to nothing. This may be right or wrong so Samuel and the aunts should settle the matter. He sends sympathetic affection and urges them to follow his advice.
